Hosted by Jörg Tresp and Joe Sparrow who teach BA (Hons) Music Business at BIMM Institute Hamburg and Berlin, this webinar gives you an insight on the changes the music industry is currently facing.
COVID-19 has devastated huge parts of the music industry, especially the live performance, festival and touring sectors. But is the future actually much brighter than it seems? It is now clear that the pandemic has changed the industry in structural ways: live streaming is now firmly established and artists and fans are now connecting – and making money – in new ways through new platforms.
In this session, we’ll discuss the negative impact of the pandemic, and focus on the changes it has brought – and how artists and music industry professionals can now emerge (hopefully) stronger, and make money in new ways.
As a writer and broadcaster for the music industry news, research and analysis service Music Ally, Joe Sparrow has extensive experience and a network of connections in the worlds of online music discovery, music-tech platforms, and online artist services.
Jörg Tresp is passionate about artist development and has been running his own label DevilDuck Records for 16 years, and amongst others previously worked for Warner Music Germany as their head of Rock/ Alternative.
In this webinar they discuss the following questions:
• What are the negative effects of Covid-19?
• What might be "positive“ changes for the music industry?
• How might the post-Covid world look like?
The webinar will last 1 hour with a 30-minute Q&A section at the end, so you leave with no questions unanswered.
This session will be hosted on Zoom, held in English-language and starts at 18:00 CET (German time).
We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
